On 4th of December, 2019, Egyptian delegation made up Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sallah El-Said Ibrahim, Director of the International Relations Office of the Mansoura University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed El Garayhi Abdelhalem Salem, Professor in Faculty of Sciences at the Mansoura University, paid a scientific visit to RATEN ICN Pitesti.
The Egyptian guests have welcomed at RATEN headquarters by Cristian Gentea, General Director RATEN, Dr. Maria Roth, Director with Strategy and Development RATEN, and Dr. eng. Constantin Păunoiu, Director RATEN ICN.
The visit enrolled in the activities organized in the framework of the Tri-lateral Cooperation Agreement between Mansoura University (Egypt), University of Pitesti (Romania) and Institute for Nuclear Research Piteşti (Romania), signed in September 2018. The Egyptian guests visit started with discussions on the status of TCA implementation, the professional training plans and directions of interests promoted by the Research Centre in Energy of the Mansoura University (Egypt), and on the future activities proposed under TCA framework. Dr. Cristina Alice Mărgeanu, coordinator RATEN ICN for TCA presented two proposals for RATEN ICN coordination of egyptian students in master programme.
Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sallah sustained the Mansoura University interest in the involvement of RATEN ICN specialists and its R&D and education and training infrastructure in the Egyptian human resources training efforts in the nuclear energy field, considering the extended experience, the competency and the professionalism of the Romanian specialists.
Egyptian delegation continued the program with a scientific visit at the TRIGA Reactor, being accompanied by Dr. Eng. Călin Truţă and Dr. Cristina Alice Mărgeanu. The agenda also included specific discussions on the RATEN ICN’s coordination activities of Egyptian students from master program. At the discussions, kept in the Department of Reactor Physics, Nuclear Fuel Performances and Nuclear Safety, participated also Dr. Minodora Apostol and Dr. Marin Constantin. Dr. Cristina Alice Mărgeanu presented two proposals for coordinating Egyptian students in master program, gave specific information and replied to questions regarding the computer codes to be used and the methodology. There also have been discussed the work program and the possibility for the Egyptian students to publish a paper and participate to Nuclear 2020 International Conference organized by the RATEN ICN. The discussions also addressed other potential domains of interest for the practical coordination of students, and some practical aspects related to training areas of interest and their prioritization at the Research Centre in Energy of the Mansoura University.
