Instrumentation and Control

Objectives:
  • Modernization of the instrumentation and control equipment for CNE Cernavoda;
  • Development of decision-taking systems for the critical security parameters in CNE Cernavoda;
  • Measurement of the ageing mechanisms of the electronic equipments and cables;
  • Completion of expert systems to assist operators in the command room;
  • Draw-up of solutions and technologies to replace morally and technically worn-out equipment.
Research perspectives:
  • Modernization of the instrumentation and control equipment (I&C) for NPP based on methodologies, guides and practices provided in the IAEA technical documents; implementation of the requirements imposed to the digital equipment I&C intended to replace the analogical type;
  • Modernization of the equipments realized in the past years, which are no longer produced and sold, due either to the moral wear or to expiry of certificates of the competent authorities (BRML, CNCAN, Health Ministry);
  • Realization of integrated systems in the radiation protection field and also for the acquisition of information in the control room (technical offices) in NPP;
  • Management of ageing of the equipment I&C for NPP;
  • Implementation of the CAD and CASE means and methods in the design  process and information integration;
  • Execution of the radiation detectors.
Main results of research:
  • Design and implementation of equipments, instrumentation and control for Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Cernavoda NPP:
    • Failed fuel location system (SLCD);
    • Monitoring system for radioactivity in the heat transport system;
    • Ionization chambers;
    • Amplifiers for flux detectors;
    • Dynamic compensation mode;
    • Monitoring system for personnel and surfaces contamination.
  • Design and implementation of instrumentation and control for the TRIGA research reactor;
  • Design and execution of a processing and collecting system for meteorological information.
