Environmental Protection
Objective:
Improvement of the efficiency of population and environment protection against radiation associated risks.
Research perspectives:
- Assessment of environmental impact of nuclear activities;
- Radiation effects on humans;
- Development of radiation measurement methods for radiation protection;
- Development of methods, techniques and technologies for nuclear installations decommissioning;
- Public information for nuclear power acceptance;
- Development of scientific, methodological and practical knowledge for radiological emergency preparedness.
Main results of research:
- Studies concerning the environmental impact of nuclear activities, public reports;
- Effluents and environmental monitoring programs and technical procedures for routine releases from nuclear installations;
- Improved methods for radiological characterization used in decommissioning activities;
- New methods for decontamination of equipment and dismantled components from nuclear installations decommissioning;
- Radiological emergency monitoring program;
- Public information and education for nuclear power acceptance and radiological emergency situations;
- Radiation protection training manual;
- Published papers and contributions to scientific meetings.
