Fuel Handling System (F/H)

Obiectives:
  • Elaboration, development, qualification and assimilation of technologies and equipments necessary for testing, commissioning, inspection, maintenance, repair and working surveillance of the Fuel Handling System (FHS) components;
  • Accomplishment and improvement of our own material and human resources as support for activities in commissioning, operation and service for FHS;
  • Cutback of professional exposure for the NPP overhauling personnel by shortening the duration of inspection, maintenance and repair works at Fuel Handling System.
Research perspectives:
  • Technologies and Equipment for F/M Head Testing:
    • Assimilation in Romania of the equipment and technology for F/M Head testing for NPP Cernavoda Unit 2;
  • Numerical simulation - Fuel Handling System:
    • Accomplishment of the project of numerical equipment capable to simulate the F/M Head operation, intended for improvement and testing of the FHS operators;
    • Development of the numerical simulation programs of components FHS, to identify and analyze phenomena which influence good functioning.
  • Technologies and Equipment for F/M RAMs Testing:
    • Elaboration, development and qualification of technologies and equipment necessary for in-plant testing of F/H HEAD.
  • Technologies and equipment for maintenance, repairs and inspections FHS:
    • Development of technologies, tools and devices for maintenance and repair in-plant of specific nuclear components;
    • Development of on-line monitoring technologies, methods and equipment of the nuclear components for predictive maintenance.
  • Studies, analyses and technical solutions for emergency cases at FHS:
    • Identification of the main emergency cases in FHS operation and elaboration of the technical solutions for overhauling.
  • Studies, analyses and technical solutions to decrease the wear mechanism from FHS:
    • To identify the wear mechanism produced in FHS operation, assessment of the results and elaboration of the technical solutions to decrease its occurrence.
  • FHS Operational mock-up:
    • Design and execution of some operational mock-up for training of the FHS operation personnel.
Main results of research:
  • Completion of modernization and commissioning of F/H Test Rig;
  • Design and realization of the structure of F/H Head process computer;
  • Design, test and implementation of the dedicated software of the F/H Head computer;
  • The F/H Head process computer and the test rig have been assessed by AECL as being operational;
  • Finalization of technical documentation necessary for the operation of the test rig of F/H Head and upgrading of testing personnel;
  • Completion of procedures for F/H Head Testing;
  • Completion of test contract for F/H Heads 4 & 5 and Ram 7 intended for CNE Cernavoda;
  • Completion and homologation of mobile functionally test of F/H Rams, used at Unit1 Cernavoda;
  • Realization of a device for disassembling the damaged F/H Snout Plug;
  • Realization of a computer program for numerical simulation of F/H command desks;
  • Execution of a device and technology to improve the strength of the magnetic rods of F/H Reed switches.
