By this project, the laboratory has developed and improved the techniques for the investigation of the processes which take place in the fuel, in order to obtain relevant information concerning:

1. Maneuvre regimes or power rampings;
2. Nuclear fuel behaviour in accident conditions generated by reactivity and loss of coolant;
3. Fuel element failure kinetics and fission product release.

            The purchased equipments contribute to increasing the level of utilization of the research infrastructure, to capitalize the R&D potential and ressources in the national and regional plane and to participate within the framework of international research programs.
            The new infrastructure enables to involve the laboratory în the co-operations with foreign partners within the framework of international research, development and innovation programs such as the co-operation with CANDU Owner Group (COG).
            The laboratory will be used as a basic technical support for the following programs:

• R & D programs, aiming to determine the fuel behaviour under operation in different circumstances.
• Monitoring programs, aiming to strengthen the safety and reliability of nuclear fuel and materials in Nuclear Power Plants.
• Special programs, aiming the deep investigation of physical-chemical and mechanical properties of irradiated fuel and materials by the using of particular hot cell techniques.
