LICENSED ESCA LABORATORY AS A LABORATORY FOR NUCLEAR MATERIAL EVALUATION BY ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY - ESCALAB
PROJECT PROPOSED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND RESEARCH PROGRAMME “RESEARCH OF EXCELLENCE” MODULUS IV 2006-2008
The objective is to license the Surface Analysis Laboratory as a Laboratory for nuclear materials evaluation by Electron Spectroscopy.
The assurance of safe operation of nuclear installations and the extension of the safe operation period require the development of the methods to assessment of the nuclear materials, systems, components and structures, in the framework of licensed activities, in compliance with European directions and standards.
The nuclear materials evaluation requires obtaining of accurate data about the surface composition (the elements on surface, their abundance and chemical state); the analyzed structures can be non homogeneous and radioactive structures.
The characterization of nuclear materials at microscopic level by Electron Spectroscopy need the standardization of analytical methods and the assurance of the necessary level of the performance of the Electron Spectrometer, to perform accurately measurements.
