The main objective:
The achievement of a Research Platform that should converge, increase and turn to account the expertise at a national level in the field of Surface Science by enlarging the material assets unique in the country and which belong to the group that performs this Project, the strengthening of human potential, dissemination of the acquired scientific information, development of cooperation with national and foreign partners, including innovative small and average-size enterprises related to Surface Science; a focus of assets will be achieved (material basis, human resources) that should exceed the critical threshold needed for attaining the added value on national and European plan in the area, and for facilitating the integration into ERA.
The S&T objectives:
- Development of electrochemical methods for deposition of diamondlike carbon (DLC) films;
- Development of novel surface structures and multilayers with markedly enhaced properties such as high hardness, chemical inertness in aggressive media, improved wear behavior;
- The understanding and the control of electrochemical surface engineering processes;
- The understanding of the Flowing Accelerated Corrosion Processes.
Main output:
- Knowledge–based electrochemical technologies for controlled modification of materials superficial structure (in order to obtain multifunctional advanced materials for industrial applications)
- Multifunctional advanced materials for industrial applications (with improved resistance to corrosion, wear, tribocorrosion, high temperature oxidation)
- Control and Prediction System for Flowing Accelerated Corrosion Process
- Improved methodology of electrochemical research
- Models of processes and structures
The project constitutes a solid base to participate in the European Research Programs
