OBJECTIVES
The Testing Stand to be placed within SCN Pitesti area will allow carrying out of the qualifications tests for packages to be used for transport and storage of radioactive materials in Romania. The following packages should be tested at the INR Pitesti test facilities: Type A, Type B(U), Type C.
These qualifications tests have to prove that the package subject to tests has the capacity to resist to all transport conditions: routine and accident conditions.
Depending on the type of package subject to testing, the following tests shall be performed:
- Water spray test;
- Free drop testing from the following heights: 0.3m, 1m, 1.2 m, 1,7 m, 3m, 7m, 9m;
- The stacking (compression) test;
- The penetration test;
- The rolling down test on a slope ;
- The free drop test from 1m height on a bar rigidly mounted perpendicularly on the target; the dynamic crash test;
- The thermal test;
- The puncture/tearing test;
- The immersion test
THE COMPONENTS OF THE TESTING FACILITIES (TESTING STAND)
- The target;
- The slope plan;
- A Basin to perform thermal test;
- A Ferro (reinforced)-concrete platform to perform stacking test;
- A special equipment to perform water spray test;
- A power supply facility;
- Other tools e.g. steel bar, mild steel plate
